We already know this for a fact, but youd think they would at least conduct themselves with honor when an endorsement from an Oscar winning actress is involved. But apparently, they cant even do that, at least according to Octavia Spencers lawsuit against former employer Sensa. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Spencer has filed a lawsuit against weight loss company Sensa, which promises to make you as willowy as the fictional teenagerASansa Stark with a magical powder you sprinkle on your food. She is suing them for breach of contract and fraud after they fired her and failed to pay her for what she says are trumped-up, totally-on-them reasons. It all started innocently enough when the company first approached her and asked her to be a celebrity spokesperson. She said no at first, but after losing a few pounds using the product, agreed to do it on a few conditions: She says she passed up a $3 million offer from another weight loss company to take SensasA$1.25 million one (with an additional $100,000 going to charity) because the company agreed to various stipulations, including that the ad campaign wouldnt focus on significant weight transformation, wouldnt use before and after photographs and wouldnt be placed in tabloid magazines or on gossip websites. She also wanted the campaign to focus more on healthy lifestyle than dramatic weight loss, she didnt want to lose more than 20-25 lbs.

Historically, weight loss programs are not as effective among black women compared to white women and men, says Gary Bennett, lead author of the study and director of obesity prevention at Duke University. Therefore, he says, his findings are promising. Theres not the same social pressure for black women to lose weight in the black community, he explains.
